Sweetwater Plantation, located near Bristol, Florida (in the Florida panhandle), is owned and operated by Terry and Martha Deason. The plantation offers a range of habitats from upland longleaf pine ridges to creeks and steep ravines.
Sweetwater Plantation's deer breeding program is focused on bringing outstanding Texas genetics to Florida. We specialize in Texas bloodlines for hardiness and the look that breeders are seeking in today’s market.
Our first breeder stock was purchased in 2003 from Billy Sage, The Bone Factory and S&S Whitetail Galore. In the years 2009 through 2011, we built our outstanding foundation of Texas genetics through embryo transfer. Since then we have been using artificial insemination to further enhance our Texas-based genetics. We have partnered with Jason Millegan of Cross Canyon to add their nationally acclaimed genetics to our existing foundation.
Additionally, we have partnered with Rockin’ R in purchasing our breeder “Freightliner” from Cross Canyon and our breeder “Game Over” from Highroller Whitetails.
Also, we are working with Dean Dermody at Devil's River to add more outstanding Texas genetics to our herd.
It is our goal to be among the very best whitetail deer breeders in Florida. We think focusing on strong Texas genetics that will survive and thrive in Florida will get us there.
